Br. Etienne left today to return to St. Vincent Seminary for the spring semester of his first year in theology school. During Christmas break I gave him my Canon Rebel XS camera, since I got an upgrade from my parents. Br. Etienne, a camera enthusiast and former camera store worker, took this amazing macro picture of a snowflake the other day. He explained to me that he took the shot by, “Taking the 18-55mm lens off and turning it around.” Nice work.
Below: Br. Etienne borrowed the fish-eye lens to capture this excellent night shot.
In December of 2008, Northwest Missouri had a terrible ice storm. The monks were without electricity for five days and had to evacuate the monastery. It’s a long story, and while it may have been adventuresome for a few of the young monks, it was not the most pleasant memory for others. Regardless, I took these shots around that time of the ice that formed.
