On Saturday we had beautiful weather for our 19th annual Abbey Trails 5K Run/2-mile walk.  We had 87 runners and 115 walkers participate.  The sun was shining and the wind was hardly blowing at all, perfect conditions for some morning exercise.

I ran in the 5K race, finishing 4th overall with a time of 19:20, just 5 seconds behind seminarian Nick Koeppel who took 2nd place.  1st place went to Jared Keller of Albany, Missouri, who was pushing a baby stroller, with two kids in it!!  See a picture below.  Though pushing the stroller, he ran the 5K in a blazing 18:22!  That is a 5 minute 55 second per mile pace.

The 2-mile walk is set up that participants have to “guess” their walk time, and winners are based on how close your actual time is to the time you estimated before the race.  Br. Michael Marcotte, OSB was 20 seconds off of his actual time and won the overall men’s division.
